I had a wonderful stay at this charming Japanese inn. The tatami mats in the room created a cozy and authentic atmosphere that I truly enjoyed. The pillows were exceptionally comfortable, made with organic materials, and I was tempted to purchase one to bring back home to the US. The restroom on the third floor was pleasantly warm, as the owner had thoughtfully turned the heater up to the maximum setting. I greatly appreciated the owner's efforts in keeping my room clean and tidy, as well as providing hot water for me every morning. The location of the inn is perfect, especially if you plan to go skiing and want to get an early spot in line for the bus. I didn't use the inn's bathroom much since I visited the public onsen after skiing each day (which cost 480 yen). Despite staying on the third floor, the owner kindly brought my luggage to my room during check-in, which was a lovely gesture that I greatly appreciated.

As an overseas visitor to Aomori, I felt very welcomed by the proprietress. It was a much more personal experience than staying at a hotel and she made sure to check in with me every day. And despite the language barrier, everything was explained clearly and there was lots of helpful signage posted. I also enjoyed my room on the third floor and the air conditioner worked well. The room was big for me as a solo traveler and two people would fit fine. Three might be a little cozy unless you're just needing a place to crash. While there is one shower, it was never a problem grabbing a shower each day. I stayed for 5 nights and the place appeared full each night and yet I only ever caught a glimpse of another lodger twice. If planning to use the free washing machine, just be sure to leave time to hang dry your laundry. And, as everyone else says, the location absolutely cannot be beat.

The rooms were really spacious and clean. They cleaned the rooms and reset the futon every day, and each time provided tea, hot water, and two country ma’am cookies. If you decide to wash clothes while you’re here, there are some drying racks located within the rooms, which is nice. The ryokan is also really conveniently located within the city - literally like a 2 minute walk away from the station, and less than 5 minutes from places like the Nebuta Museum and A-Factory. (Though the ryokan can be a little difficult to find - apple maps took me to the wrong street! It’s kind of hidden in a small alleyway next to Toyoko Inn.) They also let me store my luggage even after I had already checked out, which saved me a couple bucks!

The location's great, and the owner is very helpful as well. We got caught in the rain and our shoes got wet as a result, and after explaining the situation, she suggested to stuff the shoes with newspaper and let them dry overnight with the air-con set to Dry mode, even providing the old newspapers for us to do so. Needless to say, I am very grateful for the help that we got from her. Compared to other accommodations, the bathroom is also really big. If you're traveling on a budget and don't mind lacking a few amenities like having a private toilet while doing so, it's actually great.

I was doing my solo trip in the end of the winter. Great for the accomodation, cleaning, and the care of the friendly owner. A little bit pity...during the holidays or weekends, i found it became crowed and there is only one shower room for the whole vistors and the space might not be enough though...otherwise...i thought this is good for me, and for those who like small group, quite, and japanese style. this is a good choice
